Abstract: The field of metamaterials (and its predecessors such as complex media and artificial dielectrics) has witnessed unprecedented growth in recent years. metamaterials. In my group, we are exploring some issues in metamaterials and plasmonic optics in order to investigate new directions for the next generation of metamaterials. To that end, we are currently investigating topics such as phase-change nanostructures, merging nonreciprocity with metamaterials to achieve exciting features unattainable with each part individually, nonlinear metatronics for optical information processing at the nanoscale, extreme-parameter metamaterials for phase coherence in light-matter interaction particularly in quantum metamaterials, one-atom-thick metamaterials, digital metamaterials, and meta-machines for information processing and functionality.
